Al Qaeda Turning To Children

More and more children are taking part in the war. Obviously this is just another example of the horrible nature of these animals. But one bright spot about this story is that it may show how Al Qaeda is having a hard time getting older people to take up the fight.

I gotta disagree with you on the bright spot in the article.

I think the fact that children are being recruited shows that they are easily susceptible to coersion, not necessarily that Al Qaeda is having a tough time getting fighters.

I would say the bright spot is that they have an education center and the child detainees are separated from the rest of the adults. The fact that they get to go to school and learn how to read is the bright spot.

The fact that Al Qaeda has to use children, because they can't get adults, is a bright spot. Its shows a Al Qaeda desperation as the ability to recruit good solid fighters has been severely impaired.

Or it shows that if they get them young while they can still influence them, they can have fighters for years (or until we capture or kill them anyway).

Kind of like raising a pitbull to be a fighter. Once you start that puppy fighting when they're young, it's impossible to rehab them... or what the cigarette companies used to do with using cartoon characters as mascots for their products.

And where does it say they "have" to use children. Without going back and re-reading it, I believe that it is one persons opinion that they "have" to use children.
