Don't you think the military would have put the kabosh on this article if it was classified information? Could be that the military wants the enemy to know whats up.

Anyway, I didn't think this information was secret. I thought I'd read something about the military jamming the signals to thwart IED's a while ago.

No. The New York times has shown impotent our government agencies are at stopping blatant leaks of secrets designed to stop terrorists. To get them to stop would require a great deal of political will since it would require the attorney general bringing charges of treason against the editors of the NYTimes.

Could you imagine the utter unfairness of the coverage of that trial. Many consider the press to be the 4th estate of a functioning democracy. The only problem with that is the press is not politically accountable like executive and legislative branch.

Right... they're economically accountable... which I thought you favored massively over political systems. So what's the problem?

For a very long time they were not even economically accountable. That was the problem. The internet is finally putting an end to that.
