People should be free to choose what is best for themselves as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others to do the same. I created this blog to discuss issues I have with big government, liberal media, and to talk about my support for capitalism and the Iraq War.

I also how over half the story is committed to the San Francisco protest. This city is noted for its anti-war stance and will always boast larger anti-war numbers than others cities. If we lived in a peaceful world with no military at all 30,000 people in San Francisco would still come out to protest war.
Thousands of people protest and that's not news? Although, I will admit that I didn't know it either until I watched the news last night.
Maybe you should start your own news company, DNN (Do Nothing News). Nothing happens and you report on it. You could have reporters in Iraq and every day when nothing happens somewhere you can cut to a clip of the reporter.
I can see it now, "I'm reporting live from Diyala province where nothing has happened today. Back to you Bob."
You would have conservatives enthralled. And you would create some much needed competition for Fox news.
Funny how MSM does that in Iraq - well no one died today so nothing is happening. But you know damn well becuase you read Michael Yon and Michael Totten that stuff is happening over there - turns out it positive stuff though. I know how MSN hates that.
Do you think if there was a pro war rally that small that MSNBC would have made it one of their top stories. NO WAY IN HELL. Point Game Set Match
"Point Game Set Match" Hmm... typical conservative. Declaring victory for yourself. Did you learn nothing from Bush's landing on the carrier?
Yeah. I learned the mission was accomplished.
I must admit i chuckled at your DNN news. Although I tend to agree with Diatribe. You don't realize there are things going on in Iraq mostly because they are not reported.
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here the whole week. Please remember to tip your waitress.
"You don't realize there are things going on in Iraq mostly because they are not reported."
Look, I admit that you don't hear a lot of good news coming out of Iraq and that there is good news to be had there. The thing with war is, when nothing happens (that is to say when life is normal) it's not reported because nothing happened. Nothing happening=not news. What gets reported are the bombings and civilians getting killed and conflict and bad stuff. That's the nature of war.
Unfortunately the media (MSM if you would like) report on the bad things and often don't report on the normalcy that many parts of Iraq have. I do realize this.
In the case of war, you could say that hearing nothing is a good thing. This usually means that nothing bad is happening. I have noticed that MSM outlets like CNN and the evening news broadcasts seem to be reporting less and less of Iraq. I see this as a good thing. Hopefully it means normalcy is beginning to take over there.
I think what a lot of those protestors were protesting was the fact that we are there in the first place (I know that's why I hate the war). Perhaps the protest is misguided. This war, regardless of the way Bush has twisted it, had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the War on Terror. Before we got there, Iraq was not filled with terrorists as Bush would have us believe now. Neither was it filled with WMD as Bush would have had us believe back then.
Regardless, the protests, however small, is still news here.
You are foolish to believe that this war has nothing to do with terrorism. Al Qaeda made a strong push to expel the US and has thus far failed. Additionally, Al Qaeda tactics have turned most all of the Iraq people against them. This creates a group of people in the Middle East that no longer sympathize with Al Qaeda, but in fact are hostile towards it. This has does more for putting an end to Middle East terrorist than anything else we have ever done.
You might be arguing that in the run up towards the war the justification for going into Iraq had nothing to do with WMD. This is not the case for I was very skeptical of WMD but supported the invasion as a means to establish another democracy in the region. I assure you Bush made arguments about establishing democracy. This was not covered as extensively partly because this was not the strongest reason. But it was most certainly a reason he gave.
I should have been more clear in my previous post.
Yeah, now it DOES have everything to do with terrorism. I would even go so far as to say Iraq is the central front on the war of terrorism. But Afghanistan had that honor before we went to Iraq. Terrorists have flocked to Iraq like it's Mecca. They weren't there before we got there though.
Sounds like we agree. It was clever of Bush to take the war to the middle east to bring out Al Qaeda and prove to the rest of the Middle East just how weak they are.
Umm... right.
I see your point Sophist, but why couldn't he have just invaded Canada to draw the terrorists out there? I mean, we could have saved billions already on jet fuel alone, flying troops back and forht. Also, we'd at least speak the language in most provinces.
