Chicago had itself a busy killing summer.
Oh by the way - It is illegal to buy or possess firearms in Chicago.

People should be free to choose what is best for themselves as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others to do the same. I created this blog to discuss issues I have with big government, liberal media, and to talk about my support for capitalism and the Iraq War.

Suck it Iraq!! You got nothing on us!!!!!
Oh, and, despite these nice statistics, that still doesn't mean it was a justified war.
Nothing in my post was to justify the war. Bare down Cobra.
What is the reason for that argument anymore? You might be able to make the point that if that is not mentioned it might happen again.
I can maybe grant that premise.
But everytime I hear that from people now it seems like the only argument they got because they cant admit to themselves that things are going so much better there now and we are actually winning. And for some reason admitting we are winning then implies that the war was justified.
In my mind you can say we are winning and it was not justified - that is find.
"Nothing in my post was to justify the war." Nope, not explicitly anyway. However, you've used this blog on a number of occasions to defend the US going to war in Iraq, so I don't think my statement was unjustified.
As for the reason for the argument? It's the same reason that Bush repeatedly states that the war in Iraq is a war on terror and conveniently forgets the original reason why we invaded in the first place, because "Iraq posed a real and present danger to the safety of the United States due to their immense stockpile of Weapons of Mass Destruction."
Turns out that was dead wrong, so to save face and create some revisionist history, he has rebranded this Iraq war a war on terror. Bottom line is, there were NO, ZIP, ZERO, ZILCH terrorists in Iraq before we were there. It's true, there are now, but the real war on terror is going on in Afghanistan.
The fact is there are over 4,000 American service men and women who are dead because of a misguided war. If the goal was to kill terrorists, well we were doing that already in Afghanistan and we could have just stayed there and let the terrorists come to Afghanistan. Now we're fighting two wars in two separate countries and because of the Iraq buildup, Afghanistan is starting to devolve.
We could have done one war in Afghanistan expertly, gone in, kicked ass, gotten out, but because we went to war in Iraq as well and split our resources, now we're bogged down there as well and the successes we had in Afghanistan are turning now. That's why your boy Michael Yon is there again, because that's where the action is. It wouldn't surprise me to see Iraq start turning for the worse once we start withdrawing some troops there as well.
So I guess that's the reason for that argument.
