Protect the Children

http://althouse.blogspot.com/2006/06

We need to protect those children. We do not want to hurt anyones feelings for crying out loud.
Give me a break. You are doing more harm than good. You are setting up these children for a real smack in the face of reality.

It is good to have competition. Not everyone is supposed to win. Not all the kids are supposed to get trophies at the end of the year.

Yeah, you try to make the teachers and staff sound like idiots who want to wrap our children in a protective bubble of self-esteem and fluffiness. However the true reason for these changes is written right there at the start of the article- the parents of several children trying to get at teh honors spot sued the school. I don't know if you've heard the phrase 'follow the money' but you can bet that any school district is willing to sacrifice the integrity of their honorss sytem in order to avoid lawsuits which could prevent them from providing any education at all.

I was under the impression that cases brought to the court have to be settled by judges and or juries. I guess i was wrong about that. Apparently the instant someone sues someone sues the judicial system falls over backward to accomdate that position.

No, the minute someone sues you have to spend thousands of dollars on lawyer consulting fees, then either settle out of court for a large sum or spend an even larger sum on lawyers defending yourself in court.
