Maybe John Edwards Should Move to Venezuela

His health care plan forces people to get preventative care.

You don't think people getting regular health check-ups is a good thing?

My only question would be, what are the ramifications if someone doesn't get a check up? Do they lose out on the insurance then? If so, then the people still have a choice, and you're argument suggesting he move to Venezuela doesn't hold water.

Forcing people to get care if they do not want to is a bad thing. Would it be nice if they went - sure - but in the end if my dad does not want to get a check up then he should not have to. But he does not get to be mad if later in life he finds out that the disease he is now dying of could have been prevented if he went to the doctor 5 years ago.
Also Edwards/Venezuela argument does work because Venezuela is a Socialist country and John Edwards has many socialist ideas.

How would you feel if you were paying for your dad's care and he could have prevented a disease by going and getting a checkup, but now because he didn't you have to pay tens of thousands of dollars to pay for treatment that he could have prevented with early intervention? As far as I can tell this is Edwards's plan.

I'm pretty sure you know this, but the idea is if we're all going to pay for the insurance plan through our taxes, then hell yeah, he better go and get checkups. That's just cost effective. Either that or he gets kicked out of the plan. Either way, I got no problem with it.

And Nuclear Ambition back doors nicely into why universal health care is the WORST THING IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE.

By having the state pay for the health care you give justification for why the state should force kinds of health care on to you.

Universal health care = Worst idea in the universe. Really no other way around that.

Oh no... this slope... it's sooooo slippery... can't hold on... save... yourself!!!!!

Are you kidding? Slippery slope?

Are you actually saying that universal health care will not lead to legislation attempting to control the citizenry's health?

Are you actually saying that allowing the military to kidnap and torture foreign citizens, and hold them indefinitely in secret facilities without trial, will never lead to a degredation of citizen's civil rights?

Yes. duh. Actual citizens, different story.

Slippery Slope indeed. You fool.

Slippery Slope Indeed. Fucking Jack Ass.

Its video of Edwards actually stating his desire to make it mandatory for young people because its bad they don't already.

Why the hell would anyone want the government telling them when they should get a checkup.
