People should be free to choose what is best for themselves as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others to do the same. I created this blog to discuss issues I have with big government, liberal media, and to talk about my support for capitalism and the Iraq War.

I'm not so sure that for low income people getting a photo ID is "hard" or "FREE".
I very could well be wrong, but I believe in the state of Illinois, it costs like $10 for a state ID. Couple that cost with the cost of transportation (because low income people will likely take public transit) and time off from work (where they most likely earn an hourly wage) and it very likely could cost someone a hundred dollars or so.
That being said, I do think you should present a photo ID when voting
How dare they uphold a law that asks citizens to bring a photo id with them to their polling place. Cause we all know how hard and expensive it is to get a FREE photo id.
It is an unnecessary burden. Show me the report of voter fraud first, then we can talk about measures to stop it. I see this as a government fixing a problem that does not exist. If it stops one single person from voting it is an infringement on their rights defined by the 24th amendment:
Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax.
Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
To obtain an ID you must provide a birth certificate and a social security card. Assuming one does not have a copy of their birth certificate, this would require them to pay $10 to get a copy just to get an ID so they can vote. Sadly, the Supreme Court seems to have forgotten to read the constitution before ruling on this case.
"Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any...."
How do you know if they are citizens if they do not have an ID?
How about using the system every other state does, the one that doesn't require one to run through extra bureaucratic red tape just to cast your vote.
