With all the remarkable stories out there to tell about our soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan why is this one getting huge MSM attention? Just another example of why MSM pisses me off.
Update-Now Bush is apologizing for the soldiers action. I do not get it.

Because msnbc.com is a business and, as a business, it's goal is to make money. Apparantly people (yourself included) want to hear about these types of stories. When you click on the links, like how you clicked on this link, it registered a hit with the ad wizard gurus in cyberspace, thereby allowing msnbc.com to charge money for the ads that they put on their websites.
They can go to the companies that advertise on their websites and say, "see, our stories have interest and people like to read about them, this is why we charge you X amount of dollars for the ad space."
I guess it worked with you, seeing as how you not only clicked on the link, but then put the link in your blog, thereby increasing their traffic even more. You fool, you're playing right into their hands!
Also news stories are pretty much always negative, have been for the last 40 years. But as for why it's a story, yeah, standard stuff.
However, you should totally understand why Bush is apologizing for it. It's a pure military decision. We're trying to win hearts and minds in the Arab world, to get democratic elections to go towards people we like rather than terrorists and extremists, as well as lowering the recruiting numbers of terrorist organizations, and pissing off ALL muslims is a really stupid things to be doing. I'd bet there's a good chance that the apology saved AT LEAST a few US soldiers' lives, which is all the justification it should need.
Saving soldiers lives does make some sense to me. Good point
