Cops In Philidelphia Fired

I must be dumb because I do not understand why these guys got fired. Oh wait yeah i do! A few of them were brand new to the force - so I can see why they got the boot (probably not tenured yet). I guess those new guys are being used as scapegoats, and to show that Phili is sensitive to the black man - heads had to roll. Each one of these guys who were beat were running from the Cops after the Cops tried to arrest them for MURDER. All by the way have been charged with murder- so there is strong evidence of their guilt. It was not like this was some random black people they pulled over for fun to beat the crap out of. Also, as you see in the video there were 14 or so cops on the scene. This was not just a random pullover. The cops had to call a lot of people over to catch these guys. Sorry to the Cops who lost their job from protecting the citizens of Phili from those who commit murder.

Seriously, dude, you're not a libertarian. You'reposition is perfectly consistent, it's just not anything remotely resembling wanting freedom from government oppression. Find a new term.

I am a libertarian that believes force is necessary sometimes. I am not the Ron Paul libertarian for sure.

How is beating a suspect after he's in custody neccessary? If you think that the news report is innacurate, that might be true, but the story you linked said they were already restrained when the beating started.

Why is running from the cops necessary? These MURDER suspects took off from the cops - got into a car and made numerous officers have to respond to capture them. I guess it does not bother me that they got beat a little. Now if you want to punish the cops for that - ok - but fire them? Maybe a suspension or something. But firing these guys is ridiculous.

How about arresting them for assault? You're not allowed to attack people unless it's in self-defense. If the police force is above the law then we're one step away from tyranny. Sorry, I understand completely that they have difficult and dangerous jobs dealing with evil people abd that this type of thing feels comletely justified, but we HAVE to hold the police (and military for that matter) to a higher standard. It's the only way we can ever responsibly trust them with all the power that they're given. As someone who is against gun control in part so that citizens can defend themselves against a repressive government, I'd think you could appreciate that.

No one is above the law. If they are, the law is only a tool of oppression, not a means for justice.
