Gun Control?
So this school year 26 Chicago Public School students have been killed. In just over one full year over 500 CPS students have been shot. My argument for the past few years has been that gun control is a bad thing. It takes guns out of law abiding citizens who want to defend themselves. If bad guys want to get guns a law will not stop them. Just look at DC and Chicago which have the toughest gun control laws on the book and their murder rate is the highest in the country. But then you look at all these kids getting shot and even it was legal to own guns they would still be getting killed because they are not old enough to purchase a gun for defense. So where does that leave us? Lower the age to own a gun? That would probably not work. Gun control is obviously not working. We need another option. I am open for suggestions.

The answer that's not really useful is that a systematic change is needed to give these kids something worht living for. No one shot anyone in my area growing up because everyone was looking forward to college and good jobs and long happy lives and didn't have any reason to screw that up. I think that if kids are really in such a bad place that they want to kill each other, no type of vigilance or secuirty measures or w/e is going to be able to stop them.
So lets go with your systematic change. Who starts that? Parents? Government? And what would change look like for these kids?
