And this is an excellent way to get it started.

People should be free to choose what is best for themselves as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others to do the same. I created this blog to discuss issues I have with big government, liberal media, and to talk about my support for capitalism and the Iraq War.

Actually, I expect this to generate almost no debate at all. I think almost all liberals recognize that there's something troubling in their position of using race as a criteria for preferential treatment; that's a pretty obvious problem. And most also think that maybe it's ok here due to historical/social welfare factors, even if it still makes them uncomfortable. I don't think there's anyone who hasn't realized that this is a weakness in their position and suddenly "OMG you're right what were we thinking!!" or "No way that's totally unfair it isn't like that!" I suspect the general reaction will be 'Yeah, we know, it's kinda weird, but ti still feels like the right thing to do until someone comes up with a better solution." Even in that article, it sounded like the liberals on campus all understood the point being made and weren't too upset about it.
Where liberal is defined as Darwin.
Liberals recognize that there is somehing troubling in their position????
They do? Most I talk with on a daily basis would disagree with that. Goverment needs to help these kids get to school - they have been beat down by the system so we need to pull them up.
Is the argumen I usually hear
Of course you hear that argument. But if you said 'yeah, but isn't it troubling to you that we're using race as a criteria for preferential treatment? Shouldn't our society be color-blind?" don't you think they would mostly say 'Yeah, that's kind of a problem, but it's justified because of past injustices and we don't have a better solution"?
Ah yes, its so much better to infer a less contentious statement then to actually actually accept the stated controversial statement.
Sorry, what is the 'stated controversial statement' you're referring to here? You're being too pithy again.
