This Statistic Scares Me
It does REALLY upset me when I see that the over half the women who get abortions have allready had one. It makes it seem like they use it as a form of contraception (which I am totally against). Now the article says these women SELF-REPORTED they used contraception but what else are they going to say. They do not want to sound dumb by saying - no I do not use contraception (it implies fault and people hate taking responsibility). Instead they say yes I used contraception and it was not my fault that I got pregnant - Just bad luck. Getting pregnant once and using all the contraception possibe = bad luck. More than once means your most likely not protecting yourself. Take the responsiblity of protectiong yourself (ie condoms, birth control, morning after pill, no sex).

The article also stated that the women self-reported that they had previously undergone an abortion. Not sure what that potentially means, but it appears as though all the numbers cited in the article were voluntary answers from the women, not scientific data.
If the article's claims that these women are using abortion as a form of birth control, then yeah, that's bad and it is scary.
Well, vote for sex-ed classes, morning-after pills, and all the other shit that the Dems you hate keep trying to put in place to prevent this shit from happening.
I always vote in favor of teaching 4th graders about morning after pills and condoms.
good
Yes it is the job of the schools to talk to children about sex. Schools always know what is best for the child. Nothing like goverment trying to teach my kids. Thinking they know more than I do.

You're perfectly welcome to hold the opinion that we shouldn't teach our kids how to avoid getting pregnant. But then you have to be much less indignant about our kids getting pregnant all the damn time. It's when you try to hold both opinions at once that you start to sound intelectually disingenuous.
I say parents should do it when they feel it is appropiate. If it is at a private school and I know they are going to teach my kid that stuff then I am responsible if I want my kid to go or not.
But at public school I do not have that choice.
Actaully all public schools I'm aware of that teach sex ed give parents the choice of removing their kids from the class. Certainly I'd be fine with voting for that.
But if you don't mandate that all children have to learn about effective birth control, that means some children never will learn about it, and then you don't get to say "Take the responsiblity of protectiong yourself" to those people.
The most interesting part about this is I thought it was crazy that 50 percent of those people who have abortions have had more than one. And your (darwin) initial reaction is MORE GOVERMENT. Govt needs to do more - schools need to do more.
This implies these people are stupid or not competent enough to know this on their own. They need others to help make their decisions.
I believe these people need to be responsible for themselves and if they come in a second time for an abortion - the door should be shut in their face becuase I refuse to believe they did all they could to prevent themselves from being pregnant again.
Actually, as the article itself says, the government itslef prevents abortion clinics from referring women they see to Planned Parenthood and other places that give education about contraception. Tearing that shit down would definitely help.
And now Bush has appointed John Agwunobi to head the department that oversees federally funded teen pregnancy, family planning and abstinence programs.
This guy is currently the medical director of an organization that opposes premarital sex, contraception and abortion.
It'll be interesting to see how these places fare under this dude's leadership.

Planned Parenthood = Information on Contraceptions.
LMFAO
