Big Government Isn't the Answer?

Surely you jest! I thought big goverment could always do a lot better of a job in any situation over local goverment and private companies. I mean their big goverment - that is what they do.

I Do Not Watch The NBA

The biggest reason why is that it is no longer a team sport. It has turned into one on one basketball. Leading to a bunch of cocky, arrogant, no displine, no respect for the game players that end up doing this crap. Players that take the fight too far - never should play again. Pushing and shoving and calling each other names is one thing. Throwing down is something different. Ahh memories.
UPDATE - This punishment should teach them their lesson.

Would Jesus Shop at Wal Mart

Funniest thing I have seen in like 2 days.

Chicago Alderman Wants to Protect the Children

By forcing chain restaurants to post calorie contents. If you vote against this you do not care about children, and you hope they will get fat and die. You sick bastards.

You go Democrats! They care about children way more than Republicans.
Wanting more goverment control over loans as well. Awesome! These are great ideas.

American People Agree With the Iraq Report?

I do not know one person who has actually read that thing. To say American People agree with the report is absolutely crazy. Funnies part is the author states that 39% agree with report. Hence the others who disagree or did not know what it was are not Americans (for you steve).

You Go Gore!

Why did I not vote for this guy?

Tuesday, December 05, 2006

Why I Have This Blog

Is to point out news like this. This is just another example of government organizations making choices for me. If I ran a restaurant - I should be able to choose if I use trans fat. I should be able to choose if I want to put the number of calories next to my menu items. Then it should be up to the customers if they want to eat at my restaurant knowing that I do or do not use trans fat or if I do or do not display calories next to my items. This law says people are too stupid to know what is good for them, and they need to be saved by the goverment. Individual's choices are becoming fewer and fewer and it really really frustrates me. Why do liberal cities like this think goverments are better at making decisions as opposed to individals? What happened to personal responsibility? If the goverment left this alone then restaurants may have switched over on their own (KFC). The market is a powerful force and if people decided on thier own to eat at places that dont use trans fat then more and more restaurants would make the switch. I wish the goverment would just leave people alone, and let us make our own choices.

So Venezuela should be just fine. Nothing to worry about there. They have all the ingrediants for success (Chavez, Socialism, allied with Iran, Cuba). I respect that culture.

What Was It Like Before

Did Muslims not pray before at airports? Is there more Muslims in this country now? Did we just not notice them praying before 9/11 in airports? How did this happen where Muslims now want a private room in all airports to pray? If it is only a few who pray then they should probably do it before they come to the airport. I am glad some Muslims understand though that it could make people feel uncomfortable to see something out of the ordinary like that.
Update - 6 Muslims who were detained were looking to make a political statement?
Futher Update - Now they want money

I do not see how this got past the school board. It should have stopped right there.
I swear the 9th Court Circuit of Appeals is just nuts.

Let the People Decide

If the people do not shop at the store then it will go out of business on its own. Goverment should not be able to decide if a business can operate. Yes, I understand that we elect the city councilmen to make choices for us.

Inconvenient Truth For the Kids

Happy Feet - an adorable movie with dancing penguins is actually about the evils of Global Warming. Parents I think should know about this before they take their children to the movie. Maybe some type of sentence on the bottom of the poster or statement at the end of the trailer.

This Statistic Scares Me

It does REALLY upset me when I see that the over half the women who get abortions have allready had one. It makes it seem like they use it as a form of contraception (which I am totally against). Now the article says these women SELF-REPORTED they used contraception but what else are they going to say. They do not want to sound dumb by saying - no I do not use contraception (it implies fault and people hate taking responsibility). Instead they say yes I used contraception and it was not my fault that I got pregnant - Just bad luck. Getting pregnant once and using all the contraception possibe = bad luck. More than once means your most likely not protecting yourself. Take the responsiblity of protectiong yourself (ie condoms, birth control, morning after pill, no sex).

College Republicans Want the Debate

And this is an excellent way to get it started.

Update - The response.

Israel Recognizes Gay Marriage

I still have not heard one good argument against gay marriage. The arguments I hear always come back to morals and we need to protect the family crap. I know it sounds cheesy but if you have parents that love you- who cares if they are gay or straight. They both should have the right.

Respect All Cultures

This lady is a proud Muslim and wants to talk about those who are insulting her faith by being too radical. Brown University says we cannot have you talk bad about another culture. We need to respect everyone- even terrorists. Good work Brown.

Give Me A Break

The student refused to show his ID, refused to leave the library, and encouraged others to resist. The cops tasered him and of course the cops are the bad guys. Are you freaking kidding me. If he shows his ID then this never happens. Of course students do not feel safe now from the RACIST cops.
This writer (former cop) expresses views similiar to mine on situations like these.
By the way - What is the alternative? Do the cops forcefully drag him out of the library? Do they just let him go? Do they not do a routine check of ID's? Then the campus would be real safe right? It is so IRONIC becuase the students say they want to feel safe, and that is what the cops were trying to provide by doing ROUTINE ID checks.

Furthermore- I say if you do run - cops have the right to beat your ass down.

The Pledge of Allegiance

Is it such a big deal that the Student Council does not want to recognize it?
This PC stuff seems to be getting out of hand.

Which I of course respond - I like local goverment = does not mean I need to support all their decisions.

Fans Have Right To Know

Barbara Streissand music fans should be made aware of the fact that there will be political statements made during her concert. Fans wanting to hear her sing pay upwards of $500 for a ticket. Many of her fans like the President and even if others agree with her message they might just want to hear her sing. I of course do not support this fans behavior- physical harm in uncalled for. Those who boo (which has happened at multiple shows) should have that right. Tell the fans what to expect and I have no issues- that way the fan has no one to blame but theirself.

I have always liked Dave Letterman - and I have always not liked Bill O'Reilly.
After this past interview on Letterman my opinions are reversed.
Yes Letterman is funny and his show is great - but he has made unbelievably dumb comments when he talks with O'Reilly. Many have said Dave is just trying to be funny but I believe not.

This guy can speak his mind

But not this guy

Liberal colleges - Where freedom of speech is cool as long as you agree with what they believe in. And this not letting people speak is nothing new. Off the top of my head - Ann Coulter and Pat Buchanan have both been bood off the stage and pies have been thrown at them. When was the last time a conservative bood off the liberal and threw something at them. And liberals are considered the educated/smart ones.

Logical Answer to School Violence

Why did I not think of this before?

W.H.O. Truth

How can they just make up numbers like this and expect me to believe it?

Mandating Businesses to Install Cameras

This I do not understand. Making this a law and requiring businesses to pay for it themselves as well seems crazy to me.

More Evidence Against Crime Cameras

Not working so well in DC. But it does mention that it helped with one investigation. And if it helps put one murderer or kidnapper or child molester every now and then behind bars - isnt that worth it? I think it still might be. I am still not fully against them.

High Schools are Treating their Students Unfairly

Why am I supposed to feel bad for Johnny? Not every kid is supposed to be on the varsity squad. Not every student is cut out be on the team. That is why their is for fun leagues, and clubs to join. I never made it onto the varsity basketball team - (now that I think about it, that explains a lot). This goes back again to PROTECTING THE CHILDREN. We need to be careful not to hurt anyones self esteem. Think of the devasting effects. What we need to do is make sure every kid should get the chance to play on the varsity team. All the varsity players should get trophies and then they should all be taken by a top college and given a full ride - they should all play at least one game and then get drafted by the NFL. Seems logical when you think about it.
Also is school the only place these kids can excercise or join teams. There is not a local YMCA or something. Why is it always the schools job- when does personal responsibility come into play here?

I am not joking. I seriously do not get this. It is crazy to me.

I Must Be Dumb

I thought that these "Big Box" retailers brought thousands of jobs into the community - isn't that a good thing? Jobs= less unemployment, more money for citizens and the community, more self-respect - ability to work your way up the system.
But the liberal local government = who always says they are looking out for the poor and less fortunate - are doing what they can to prevent these stores from coming in. Yep I am dumb because I do not get it.

Scientifically Proven

I have been saying this shit for years. It explains a lot.

If You Do Not Like It - Turn The Channel

Recently New York has arrested one man for broadcasting Hizbollah TV and now they want this next season of Survivor taken off the air.
I do not understand why people get so outraged by what is broadcasted on either tv or radio. If we only had one channel then that would be different. But because this country is so awesome we now have hundreds of different options on both radio and tv - and if you do not like something you can turn the dial. TURN THE DIAL.

My City is Out of Control

Telling restaurants what they cannot serve.
Becuase a city council member has animal rights issues - restaurant owners have to pay the price. There is a market for this product but that does not matter. If you have issues with foie gros then do not eat it. But do not tell others that they can't.
Remember the good old days when we had choices in the country.

Tuesday, August 22, 2006

I Support This Teacher

I do not think this teacher was making a political statement. Rather getting his class to debate a serious topic. Unless the school has a policy against this, I do not think they have the right to remove him. It seems to me that the school is being too damn sensitive to the issue and they are trying to protect those frail and scared little children. If one kid has issues with it, then something MUST BE DONE to protect that kid. Who cares if all the other kids understood the point.

There goes more jobs!

Is This Fair?

We are subsidizing health care for illegal immigrants.
Parkland Hospital lets undocumented women with no health insurance give birth at their hospital and because they cannot pay for it ($6000), turns out I have to. I am not sure if I should be paying that bill. Or better yet when my girlfriend gets pregnant I want the government to pay for that too - even though I can afford it. That seems fair.

Must Read Book

I just finished reading One Nation Under Therapy, and it speaks to a belief I feel very strongly about. Its main point is that people are stronger and more resilant than we think they are today. This book talks a lot about how therapy has been forced onto people now as opposed to being available to them. They use Columbine and 911 as examples where counselors were forced onto people instead of just being available if needed. They assumed that people obviously needed therapy becuase these situations were tragic and no way could people able to process it themselves.
The funniest chapters are on how kids today are taught in schools to talk about their feelings all the time, and how everyone should protect the childs self esteem. These authors laugh at these teachings and once again mention that children are stronger than we make them out to be.

Call Me Crazy

I actually agree with my boy Hagel.
And yes this is probably a political stunt he can use to run for President.

The most crazy part of all of this is the fact that I am agreeing with much of the main stream (liberal) media. Israel seems a little out of control to me. They keep using the phrase like we need to defend ourselves. But they are not defending they are attacking. Yes Hezbollah took two soldiers - and that is way wrong - but no way does it constitute the damage that Israel is putting on Lebanon right now. The Israel Prime Minister seems hell bent on not stopping and I cannot see a positive at the end of this one.

Tobacco Capital of the USA

So I have been spending the past few days in the great state of North Carolina and one thing that has stuck out for me, besides the amount of trees, is all the promotion for cigarettes. I think it is AWESOME how a state can choose to still promote cigarettes with billboards all over the place. Also, they still have cigarette vending machines. All the stuff you would expect to be outlawed. But, tobacco farming is such a huge industry here, it seems to okay. The people in NC realize how important that money is to their economy. Very cool!

More Goverment Protection

A goverment official in Chicago wants to protect me from becoming a fatty fat fat fat.
If I want a god damn juicy fatty greasy burger with fries, I should have that right. No goverment should be able to tell me what I can eat. Now if a business freely chooses to cook with the "good" oil - more power to them. Maybe I will stop by. Otherwise stop limiting my personal freedom please.

France tells Apple Inc whats up

How does the government get to tell a private business how to design their product? Why do they not just let the free market work and if there is a demand for the governments product then another business might c0me along and make it.

Flag Burning

This issue is about to be debated by the Senate.

Though I think flag burning is derespectful I cannot see why there has to be a law against it. To me, this is a free speech issue and if someone wants to be disrespectful then go right ahead. That is what makes this country awesome. That we allow people (though we disagree with them) to speak what is on their mind.

I view this issue the same way I view the KKK. They are a bunch of retards, but they should be allowed to say what they want.

Also, how many people are out there burning flags. I mean is there some epidemic that I am not aware of. Some new fad that is sweeping the nation.

Go ahead, burn a flag, say you think one race is better than another - I do not care. I will be here making fun of you - becuase I can under the same amendment.

Wal Mart is sooooooo evil!

http://www.suntimes.com/output/business/

Wal Mart wants to come to my town of Chicago, but Chicago is requiring that Wal Mart pay their employees a "LIVING WAGE" of $10 an hour plus $3 an hour of beneifts.

Are you freaking kidding me! Why can the goverment have a say in how much Wal Mart pays their employees? Shouldnt that be up to Wal Mart/the market? I believe the starting wage right now is somewhere around $7-8 for grunt level entry work.

But here is the thing. If an employee stays there a while they can move up the ladder prety quickly and get to that so called living wage. They just need to show that they are competent and willing to work.

One of the funnies parts of this article is this :
"Chicago Federation of Labor President Dennis Gannon accused Wal-Mart of "holding a gun" to the Council's head. Gannon said he would "not be intimidated" by a behemoth that clearly needs Chicago more than Chicago needs Wal-Mart."

This is easily contradicted by this :
http://www.chicagobusiness.com

P.S. - Will the Government please get out of the way so people can live the lives they choose to lead. Thanks

No Knock

http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/06/15/

The whole no knock warrent scares me a little bit. I believe this could lead to more injuries for the cops and the people in the home.

Do not get me wrong - I understand that it could be beneficial to come in unannounced.
But if I have a gun purchased legally, and people come into my house unnanounced, and I grab my gun and shoot someone - I better not be charged with murder or attempted murder.

The Corey Maye case keeps going through my mind when I read about this ruling.

It is a private school

http://www.cnn.com/2006/EDUCATION/

How in the hell do the courts get involved and have a say about what students get admitted into this private school that is not taking any federal money?

A PRIVATE school should have the right to determine who they let in to their school.

Protect the Children

http://althouse.blogspot.com/2006/06

We need to protect those children. We do not want to hurt anyones feelings for crying out loud.
Give me a break. You are doing more harm than good. You are setting up these children for a real smack in the face of reality.

It is good to have competition. Not everyone is supposed to win. Not all the kids are supposed to get trophies at the end of the year.
