Something Does Not Add Up

Apparently these students robbed a bank for college money. They got away with $130,000. Tuition costs $7,000 for one student and $9,000 for the other. They both receive schorships and financial aid but they said that was not enough. Apparently they needed $130,000 between them to pay for the rest. Hmmm. The article points out that the men said "they faced two options: steal the money or drop out." You bet. Nice defense guys - obviously the paper wants to believe you and make a point about college education costs- but I dont buy it. Enjoy jail.

"U.S., Iraqi death tolls head in opposite directionsThe U.S. troop death toll in Iraq for July -- which rose to 73 on Tuesday -- is the lowest monthly total since November, reflecting military hopes that the recent troop buildup is making strides. However, the figure is nearly twice as high as in the same month last year, while Iraqi military and civilian fatalities jumped in July."

One thing to note. July deaths were 43 last year. But the months before and after July of last year - death totals were in the 60's. That 43 month was an anomaly.
Also civilian fatalities are up over June but there still at the lowest since October of 06.
Lastly - interesting phrasing saying the military hopes the troop buildup is making strides- because Americans do not want them to succeed?

Just more evidence that CNN really wants the United States to lose this war. It is me or is it bizarre to want your country to fail? Something is odd about that.

Democratic Debate at Howard University

I just now watched this debate which was held about a week ago. And while I was watching it I realized I needed to bring up some issues I had with it.
1. Interesting that Democrats will not go and debate on Foxnews (because it is a propaganda machine). But Howard University (Historically Black College) is not. Every one of those questions was just lobbed up to them. I mean these are all the issues in their wheelhouse.
2. I could have answered every question with this simple answer..... Those damn rich white people and the Iraq war are to blame for all of our problems. And I would have been considered the winner of the debate. I think I heard the phrase personal responsibility one time and it was from Barack Obama.
And of course the crowd loved to hear about if white people were having these problems (whether with Aids, Poverty, Education, Katrina - things would be different).
I do recommend watching clips 2,3, and 4. These are all about race and poverty in America. Just listening to some of these answers is why I can never vote Democrat. (Maybe Barack because of his before mentioned personal responsibility answer).

They have to protect the safety of their crew and passengers on the plane - and a man wearing a T-Shirt that says Bush is the number one terrorist might frighten or anger other flyers.
